Leon R. Leber

Leon R. Leber

Funeral Director

Leon was born in York and raised in the Shiloh area of York County.  He is the son of the late Leroy and Nancy (Lehr) Leber.  He graduated in 1984 from West York Senior High School where he played on the varsity football team and the wrestling team. He attended York College where he received his pre-mortuary college credits.  He graduated in 1989 from Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science in Pittsburgh, PA. 


Leon is married to Sherrie A. (Robinson) Leber and together they have one daughter, Nicole R. Inners; two grandchildren, one dog, Teddy, and one cat Miley.  Leon and his family are members of Shiloh United Church of Christ in Shiloh.  In his spare time, Leon enjoys spending time with his family and friends by the pool and trips to Ocean City, Maryland.


Katherine Seiler

Katherine is a lifelong resident of York County. She is a graduate of the University of Delaware where she earned a degree in Education. She taught high school science at the Northeastern School District. While taking time from full-time employment, Katherine found herself working in the long-term care industry as an Activities Director. As life is always fluid, Katherine felt the call to enter the work of ministry. She graduated from the Lancaster Theological Seminary and is now an ordained minister with the United Church of Christ. With a strong desire to serve those struggling with grief, Katherine furthered her education and graduated from the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science. Today, Katherine has come full circle serving those struggling with end-of-life care as a licensed funeral director and a chaplain for hospice.

Funeral Director

William lives in York County and is a graduate of Mansfield University and Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science. He has been a licensed funeral director for more than 30 years in Pennsylvania and West Virginia. William also is a licensed life insurance agent with more than 30 years of Pre-Planning & Pre-funding experience.  In Bills spare time he enjoys, traveling, fishing and spending time with his family


Michael Gladfelter

On February 17, 1986, Michael Gladfelter joined the Diehl Funeral Home as one of the funeral directors. Michael, a native of York County, was raised in Seven Valleys, and was a graduate of Spring Grove High School. Prior to his employment with the Diehl Funeral Home, he worked with Pumphrey Funeral Home in Bethesda, and Rockville, Maryland. He holds a license in both states of Maryland and Pennsylvania. Michael graduated in 1984 from the Mortuary Science Department of Catonsville Community College, Baltimore County, Maryland. Michael is a member of the Pennsylvania Funeral Directors Association the National Funeral Directors Association and is the past president of the York County Funeral Directors Association.  He is a member of the American Academy of Funeral Service Practitioners and is a Certified Funeral Service Practitioner.  Michael is proud to be a preceptor to several funeral service students, interns, and associates.  Michael is associated with Diehl, Emig and Leber Funeral Homes.


Karin Figueroa

Karin began working for Diehl in 2012 as a funeral director intern. After becoming licensed, she worked at other funeral homes in York and Lancaster counties and has continued assisting at Diehl over the years. Karin has been working as the secretary for Diehl Funeral Home since the beginning of 2021. Karin attended the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science and Point Park University. She lives in Lancaster with her husband, Jose, and their two sons, Liam and Marius. They enjoy spending time with their extended family and friends.

I was born in Gettysburg, PA and graduated in 2019 from Gettysburg Area High School.  I did my pre mortuary college classes at West Chester University before being accepted to Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science in Pittsburgh, PA.  In the winter of 2025, I graduated from mortuary college with an Associate of Arts degree in Mortuary Science.  I have been working with the Diehl, Emig, and Leber Funeral Homes since the summer of 2023.  I am the daughter of Todd and Angie Yingling of Gettysburg, PA. I have a little brother and my boyfriend Isaiah.   In my spare time I enjoy crocheting, Jigsaw puzzles, reading, and spending time outside enjoying the fresh air.


Larry Murray

Larry comes to us from Columbia, Lancaster County. He graduated from Hempfield High School in 2001 and is presently a student at Harrisburg Area Community College, Lancaster Campus. He is one of our funeral service assistants but in addition to that he also lends his talents to some of the gardening, maintenance and office duties. His skills are a great asset to the funeral home and the families we serve. Larry is especially kind, empathic and eager to assist our guests upon arriving at the funeral home.


Ted Grothe

Funeral Service Assistant

Ted will greet you and guide you while inside our facilities. He was born in Southampton, Long Island, New York, and graduated from high school in southern Maryland. Ted is from a military family, which required moves every few years. The longest time he spent in one place was 5½ years in Naples, Italy. Ted continued the family tradition by joining the service and is a Viet Nam veteran. He is retired from the Department of Defense and enjoys gardening, coin collecting, traveling and grandchildren.


John W. Stover

John W. Stover

Funeral Service Assistant

John was born in York, PA and raised in Zions View, Conewago Township, York County, PA.   He graduated in 1969 from Northeastern Senior High School in Manchester, PA and continued his studies at Penn State and York College.  He is a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church in Dover.  He was employed by Caterpillar Tractor Company for over 30 years, retiring in 2000 as a Logistics Technician Engineer.  Following his retirement John was a consultant for small manufacturing companies in York, Harrisburg and Lancaster, retiring in 2010 as a manufacturing consultant.  He proudly served his country in the United State Air Force.

John is the son of John and Evelyn Stover.  He is married to Marcha (Riley) Stover and together they have one son, Derek, one grandson, Dalton, two Yorkies, Libertee and Journee and one African Gray Parrot named Toots. 

In Johns spare time he enjoys Landscaping, yard work, and reading.   He is associated with Diehl, Emig and Leber Funeral Homes.

George A. Sidesinger, Jr.

George was born in Columbia, PA and raised in East York.  He is the son of George A. Sidesinger, Sr., and Phyllis J. (Billet) Sidesinger.  He graduated in 1974 from William Penn Senior High School in York, PA.   He is married to Debra J. Sidesinger and together they have two children, Andrea and Jared, and two grandchildren, Levi and Bexlee. 


In his spare time George enjoys sprint car racing, hot rods, auto detailing, auto body repair, auto painting, and cars in general.  He had an interest in funeral service since he was a young boy.  During the warm weather George and his wife enjoy trips to Ocean City, Maryland.  George is an associate of Diehl, Emig, and Leber Funeral Homes.


Delores Gladfelter

Delores is Michael’s mother and is the faithful receptionist for nearly all of our evening visitations and services. A debt of gratitude is extended to Delores for the hard work that she puts into cleaning and polishing the entire funeral home. In addition to Michael, Delores and Cleason have four daughters and countless grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also finds time to work at her church and helps all others in need of assistance. Delores is retired from AMP Inc. as an inspector.


Pamila J. Dierdorff

I was born in York and raised in the southern part of York County in Windsor, PA.  I am the daughter of Leon and Josephine (Lloyd) Walker.  I graduated in 1975 from Red Lion Senior High School in Red Lion, PA.  Following high school, I graduated in 1977 from Penn State University at Berks Campus with an associate’s degree in nutrition.  Pam had five years of private vocal lessons.  She puts her five years of training to work by conducting her church choir at Otterbein Church in Mount Wolf, PA where she is a member. 


Pam is married to Don Dierdorff and together they have three sons, Matt, Christopher and Danny; five grandchildren, Christopher JR., Alexander, Evander, Caroline, and Logan; and two cats, GG and Jo.


In her leisure time, she enjoys singing, gardening, and spending time with her family. She is associated with Diehl, Emig, and Leber Funeral Homes.

Donna was born York, PA and raised in Weigelstown, York County, PA and is the daughter of Lewis and Kathryn (Toggas) Doarnberger.  She graduated in 1975 from Dover Area Senior High School, Dover, PA.  Following high school, Donna graduated from York College of Pennsylvania in 1978.  Donna is married to Dennis Naylor and together they have two children, Abby and Craig, and one granddaughter, Thea. 

She is a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Mount Wolf.  When her busy schedule permits, Donna enjoys baking, gardening, and spending time with her family.  Donna is an associate of Diehl, Emig, and Leber Funeral Homes.


Layne Vizthum

This is Layne‘s second season as a Mount Wolf resident. She moved to North 5th St. as a single mom in 1993, then married two years later and became Layne Miller. She was on staff at Otterbein UMC.

Layne was raised in Warren, PA, and moved to the York area in 1979, during the TMI incident. She is a graduate of Warren Area High School and Eastern Nazarene College.

She achieved her Masters degree from Multnomah Biblical Seminary, living in Portland, OR from 2006 to 2010.

Following the deaths of their spouses, Layne and Bob Vizthum found each other and were married in 2020, at the very beginning of the Covid-19 shutdowns.

Both retired pastors, Bob and Layne are delighted to live in the Mount Wolf community. When she’s not out and about, Layne is most likely in her craft room, working with fabric, yarn, paint or paper.


Glenda Shearer

Glenda Shearer was born in York, Pennsylvania, and has spent much of her life rooted in the communities of her home state. A proud graduate of Northeastern Senior High School in Manchester, she completed her studies there in 1970.

Glenda is a devoted member of Otterbein United Methodist Church in Emigsville, PA, where she has formed lasting connections and contributes to her faith community.

Family is at the heart of Glenda’s life. She finds her greatest joy in spending time with her children and grandchildren. An avid lover of the outdoors, Glenda enjoys camping and hiking, embracing nature and the peaceful moments it offers.

Her life is a beautiful blend of faith, family, and a love for simple pleasures under the open sky.

Robert Yacoviello

Robert Yacoviello

Musician

Robert completed his masters’ degree in vocal performance. Robert also studied in Orvieto, Italy with Opera Lirica a Oriveto. He has also studied at Boston University under the tutelage of Susan Ormont. He has performed on stages in numerous countries including Italy, France, Spain, Germany, Russia, and Switzerland. Robert performs regularly with Center Stage Opera, and runs a voice studio in York, Pennsylvania.


Richard Frey

Richard E. Frey is a native of Bethlehem, PA.  He has degrees from Westminster Choir college, Boston University, and Palmer Theological Seminary in Philadelphia.  He has served as Minister of Music at churches in Binghamton, NY, Wayne, A., Ridgewood, NJ, Hanover, PA, and has served since 2011 at the Unitarian/Universalist Congregation of York.  He has given recitals at St. Patrick's Cathedral and the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in NYC, the West Point Cadet Chapel, and at Musikfest in Bethlehem, PA.  He twice accompanied Peter, Paul, and Mary at the Great Auditorium in Ocean Grove, NJ.  He served as organist for the national convention of the National Council of Churches in Cleveland in 1981.  He served on the Worship Planning Committee for the National Council of Churches in Geneva, Switzerland in 1986.  He has presented benefit concerts for "Bread for the World" and many other organizations.  As a composer, Dick has 23 works published.  He has made 8 recordings of organ music.  He is married to Susan Dotterer Frey, also a graduate of Westminster Choir College, and a Print Music Specialist at Menchey Music in Hanover, PA.  The Freys have 3 children, 5 grandchildren, and lots of pets! 


Robert M. Knaper

Musician/ Minister of Music

Bob Knaper is a native of York County hailing from Dallastown, PA.  After graduating from Dallastown High School, he matriculated to Mansfield University where he earned a BS in music education with a concentration in organ.

Since graduating in 1980, Bob has continually been involved in church work in a number of churches in the surrounding area.  

A few of the congregations in which he served include:

Trinity United Church of Christ in Hallam, PA; 

Grace United Church of Christ in York, PA, 

Second Church of the Brethren, York, PA

Retiring from his primary occupation in 2019, he currently serves as Minister of Music at St. Jacob’s United Church of Christ and music director at St. Jacob’s Lutheran Church, both in York New Salem, PA.


Brenda Kerchner

Musician/ Organist

Brenda is a native of Dallastown now living in Brogue, Pa. with her husband Fred and 3 dogs. She has served as organist, choir director and bell choir director at St.Paul U.C.C. and organist at St. John U.C.C. both in Dallastown for the past 33 years. She was the accompanist for the York Chorus for 15 years playing for concerts all over the area as well as Longwood Gardens. She enjoys playing all genres of music on piano or organ.
