Larry James Hoover
YORK – Larry James Hoover went home to his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at Village at Sprenkle Drive in York, PA. Larry was the loving husband of the late Sharon A. (Wolfe) Hoover who passed away on December 29, 2021
He was born in Greencastle, PA on August 30, 1940, to the late Warren and Elizabeth (Glass) Hoover.
Larry graduated from Greencastle High School. He was employed at Sears Roebuck and Company before retiring in 1999 after 34 years. He was a lifetime member of Greencastle Fire and Hose Company of Greencastle, Pa and a member of Bible Baptist Church in York where he served as a deacon and mission outreach ministry. Larry proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and was stationed in Germany for four years.
His love for God and living out the truth of God’s word was clearly evident to all be came in contract with. He enjoyed helping people, especially the elderly widows, sick and shut ins. He touched many lives, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Larry and his wife were involved in many ministries at their former church and the present church. They went on several mission trips.
Larry is survived by his sister, June, several nieces, a nephew, great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by five brothers, one sister, and two brothers-in-law.
Larry’s funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM on Monday, September 15, 2025, at Bible Baptist Church, 4190 Susquehanna Trail North, York, PA. His visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, Monday at the church. His final resting place will be in Mount Rose Cemetery in York. Officiating at his service will be Pastor Bill Schutt. York County Veterans Honor guard will provide full miliary honors at the graveside service. Arrangements have been entrusted to Leber Funeral Home & Cremation Center of Dover, PA.
