Jonathan D. Barnes

DOVER- Jonathan D. Barnes, 55 of York, passed away, Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at UPMC Harrisburg in Harrisburg, PA.  He was the husband of Brenda J. (Meshey) Barnes.

Jonathan was born December 10, 1970, in Baltimore, Maryland and is the son of Patricia I. Prescott and the late Robert A. Prescott.

He graduated in 1989 from Spring Grove Senior High School. Jonathan went on to become a Pennsylvania State Constable; from there he served as the Interim Chief of Police for Jefferson Borough and then worked as a Baltimore County Police Officer. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police. Jonathan proudly served his country in the United States Army as an Airborne Ranger.

In addition to his wife, Brenda, and his mother, Patricia, Jonathan is survived by his daughter, Breana M. Barnes of Brogue; his son, Kodi R. Barnes and his fiancé, Alexis Smith of Red Lion; sisters, Kathleen E. Best and Kimberly S. Walter, both of Spring Grove; four step sisters; as well as many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life for Jonathan will be announced at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Leber Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc.
