Joan E. Mountford

DOVER – Joan Elizabeth (Pepo), 81, of Dover, passed away, Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at Wellspan York Hospital.  She was the wife of Thomas S. Mountford whom she married 60 years ago on June 26, 1965.

Joan was born December 16, 1943, in York, PA and was the daughter of the late George and Betty (Kise) Pepo.

She graduated in 1961 from William Penn Senior High School in York, PA.  She was previously employed by Edward S. Young Insurance Company in York and Market Street Financial.  She was a member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ in York, PA where she sang on the choir and played in the handbell choir. 

In addition to her husband, Thomas, Joan is survived by her daughter, Michele Mountford Braisted of Maryland, and three grandchildren, Alex Braisted, Ashlynn Braisted, and Nicole Mountford and her daughter-in-law, Andrea Mountford.  She was preceded in death by her son, Todd Mountford.

Her funeral service will begin at 10:00 AM, Saturday, August 30, 2025, at Leber Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 47 North Queen Street, Dover, PA.  Her viewing will be from 9:00 to 10:00 AM, Saturday at the funeral home.  Her burial will be in Mount Rose Cemetery in York, PA.  Officiating at her service will be her pastor Reverend Jamie Gruber.
