YORK- James S. Stouch, Jr., 81, of York, passed away, Saturday, September 13, 2025, at his home in York, PA. He was the husband of Shirley A. (Hamme) Stouch whom he married 62 years ago on June 8, 1963.
He was born March 7, 1944, in York and was the son of the late James S. Stouch, Sr, and Margaret V. (Ness) Stouch.
He graduated in 1962 from West York Senior High School. He was employed for over 32 years with Columbia Gas before retiring in 1999. He was a member of the North American Hunting Club, the NRA, Shiloh American Legion Post #791. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. James proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam war.
In addition to his wife, James is survived by his daughters, Lisa M. Ehrhart and her boyfriend, Michael Weitkamp of York, PA, and Jennifer L. Hamrick and her boyfriend, David Bailey of York, PA; three grandchildren, Jesse W. Strine, Chase D. Hamrick, and Elizabeth L. Strine; his sisters, Judith S. Hershberger and her husband Donald of York, and J. Sandra Shaffer of VA, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Joanne Stouch.
His funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM Friday, September 19, 2025, at Leber Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 47 North Queen Street, Dover, PA. His viewing will be from 10:00 to 11:00 AM Friday at the funeral home. His burial will be in Shiloh Cemetery in (Shiloh) York. Officiating at his service will be Reverend Steven Livermore.
