Elizabeth S. Kling
YORK – Elizabeth S. (Daubert) (Shumaker) Kling, 100, of York, passed away, Monday, August 11, 2025, at Normandie Ridge Retirement Home in York. She was the wife of the late Donald Robert “Bob” Shumaker and Richard H. Kling.
Mrs. Kling was born on September 18, 1924, in Johnstown, PA and was the daughter of the late John and Abigail (Guilinger) Daubert. She graduated from high school in 1942 and then went on to earn her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Pittsburgh (1945) and a Master’s Degree from Shippensburg State College in 1970. Upon graduation from College, Elizabeth was a Business Education teacher in the Dover School District but spent the majority of her teaching career in the York City School District from which she retired in 1989. She was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church. She also belonged to Delta Kappa Gamma, was a member of the York County Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees and belonged to the York Area Rose Society. Elizabeth and Dick shared a love for roses and talked often about the 150 rose bushes they had in their back yard.
Elizabeth is survived by her daughter, Carol Lehman and her husband Tom of York, PA, her son, Douglas Shumaker and his wife, Meg of Leesburg, VA. Six grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren were the highlights of her life.
A Celebration of Life service for Mrs. Kling will be private. Arrangements have been entrusted to Leber Funeral Home & Cremation Center of Dover, PA.
