YORK - James W. Bentzel of York passed away on September 8, 2026, at Concordia at SpiriTrust. He was 90. Born on June 22, 1936, he was the son of the late Parke W. and Ethel P. Bentzel.

He was a lifetime member of Shiloh United Church of Christ, where he served on the Consistory as deacon, elder, treasurer, and president. He was a member of the Shiloh Lions Club for 60 years and served as president in 1977. He was also a member of the York International 25 Year Club.

Jim is survived by his wife of 68 years, Rosemary B. Geffert Bentzel; three sons, James W. Bentzel Jr. and his wife Norina of York, Todd A. Bentzel and his wife Shari of Ormond Beach, FL, and Mark A. Bentzel and his wife Bonnie of York; a sister, Janis Heindel and her husband William of Cross Keys; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Joanne Overmiller, and his brother, John Bentzel.

Jim thoroughly enjoyed his summers fishing in Chincoteague, VA, and winters in his workshop in York, creating heirloom treasures for his family.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM Saturday, September 12, 2026, at Shiloh United Church of Christ, 2251 Willow Road, Shiloh, with his pastor, the Rev. Melinda M. LaMontagne, Ph.D., officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 AM.

Interment will be in the Shiloh Union Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shiloh United Church of Christ, 2251 Willow Road, York, PA 17408, or the Shiloh Lions Club, 2500 Roosevelt Ave., York, PA 17408.
