Obituary

Cynthia Anne Wilson

DOVER - Cynthia Anne Wilson, age 60, of Dover, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully at her home on August 18, 2026.

Born on December 6, 1965, in Baltimore, Maryland, Cindy was the beloved daughter of Cinde Chanoski and Mel Vogelsang. Throughout her life, Cindy was known for her kindness and generosity toward others. She was often told that she wore her heart on her sleeve.

Cindy worked as a machine operator for Church & Dwight in York, Pennsylvania, where she was approaching her 10-year anniversary. She also earned a two-year degree from Essex Community College and furthered her education as a radiologic technician at the University of Maryland Medical Center, where she obtained her license and began working at Shock Trauma.

Outside of work, Cindy enjoyed spending time with her dogs, Chloe and Sadie, and driving her dream car, a convertible Mustang. Her greatest joy, however, was spending time with family and friends.

Cindy is survived by her fiancé, George Rye; her sister, Maija Kropp; her stepfather, Jack Chanoski; her brother, Robert Carr; and her nieces, Kyra Kropp and Kaylee (Kropp) Salkeld. She was preceded in death by her husband, Patrick Wilson.

Cindy and Laurie Bichell met in grade school, and what began as a childhood friendship grew into a lifelong bond. Through the decades, they shared the joys and heartaches of life, including marriages, births, deaths, celebrations, challenges, and all of life's ups and downs. No matter how much time passed or where life took them, their friendship remained constant.

They also enjoyed their regular "bestie" dates for crabs at Ocean Pride in Timonium, where many hours were spent laughing, reminiscing, and making memories. Cindy was not simply Laurie's best friend; she was family, a part of each other's hearts and lives. Their epic friendship will never be forgotten.

A visitation will be held at Leber Funeral Home, located at 47 N. Queen Street in Dover, Pennsylvania, on Friday August 28, 2026, from 6 pm to 7:30 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Cynthia's memory to the York County SPCA, 3159 Susquehanna Trail North, York, PA 17406.

Cindy will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She touched the lives of so many people and was a true inspiration to everyone who knew her.
